Pebbles: Concrete Plant Pots Inspired by Nature

Bringing the Organic Beauty of Pebbles into Your Home

Pebbles, designed by Aristotelis Barakos, are a collection of concrete plant pots that draw inspiration from the smooth, porous surfaces of pebbles found in nature. With their unique design and texture, these pots bring a touch of nature into your home or garden.

The Pebbles project was born out of the designer's fascination with the organic forms and tactile qualities of pebbles. These small stones, shaped and polished by the friction of water, have a timeless beauty that resonates with people. Barakos sought to capture this essence and translate it into a functional and aesthetically pleasing design.

What sets Pebbles apart is the use of concrete as the main material. The texture of concrete closely resembles the porous surface of natural pebbles, creating a seamless transition between the man-made and the organic. The top part of each pot features small holes for plants to fit in, allowing them to thrive in both indoor and outdoor environments.

Each Pebble pot consists of two parts: the lower part forms a space for soil and plants, while the top part acts as a lid that can be easily removed for maintenance. To ensure proper drainage, there is a hole at the bottom of every pot, allowing excess water to flow out.

The production process for Pebbles involves sculpting the shapes of the prototypes using polystyrene foam. Rubber jackets are then applied to create molds for the final concrete artifacts. The result is a series of plant pots that capture the essence of pebbles in both form and function.

The Pebbles collection comes in three sizes: large, medium, and small. The large Pebble measures 300 mm x 220 mm x 120 mm, the medium Pebble measures 170 mm x 150 mm x 120 mm, and the small Pebble measures 140 mm x 130 mm x 95 mm. These sizes cater to different plant types and spaces, allowing you to create your own unique arrangement.

Since its completion in September 2014, Pebbles has garnered recognition for its innovative design. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category in 2015. This prestigious award celebrates designs that demonstrate creativity, resourcefulness, and a commitment to improving quality of life.

With Pebbles, Aristotelis Barakos has successfully captured the beauty of nature and translated it into a functional and visually appealing design. These concrete plant pots bring the organic charm of pebbles into your home, creating a harmonious coexistence between nature and design.
